Roles and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Forest Watch program to ensure protection and best management of the forest, wildlife, and watersheds in the Clinch Ranger District of the Jefferson National Forest and other forests in our surrounding communities.


  • Oversee planning, management, delivery and evaluation of conservation, environmental education, and stewardship programs.


  • Serve as a liaison between TCC and the broader community by receiving and addressing community members' concerns and comments related to forest watch and other environmental activities.


  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between staff, board members, committees, the membership, and like-minded organizations and governmental agencies.


  • Work with the Board of Directors to develop and implement an annual budget and work plan.


  • Work closely with the Associate Director and report directly to the Executive Committee and

      other board members as designated in carrying out the described duties.


  • Assure that the mission and programs of The Clinch Coalition and Virginia Organizing are consistently presented in a strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders and the public at large.


  • And other duties as assigned by the Board.


Desired Attributes include (but not required):

  • Knowledge of and passion for High Knob and Southwest Virginia

  • Demonstrated interest in conservation and public lands issues

  • Experience with non-profit or community organizations

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work with others and utilize technology

  • Bachelor's Degree
